IV International Festival of Ethnographic Film of Pará
The IV INTERNATIONAL ETHNOGRAPHIC FILM FESTIVAL OF PARÁ is an initiative of the Visual Anthropology Research Group Visagem (PPGSA/UFPA), under the general coordination of Alessandro Campos and Denise Cardoso, and aims to disseminate, promote and reward audiovisual productions that present quality recognized technique in the area, in addition to promoting dialogue between producers, filmmakers, researchers and the general public. National and international productions of films that address contemporary sociocultural issues about people, social groups, historical processes of topics of anthropological interest and the like will be accepted.
Our festival will take place in Belém in a virtual and in person (depending on the pandemic control situation that is in the period) between October 20th and 26, 2022. Registration is completely free and can be made between March 20 and May 20. This edition of the festival is made up of two different awards: The Jean Rouch Competitive Exhibition, which will award the Best Ethnographic Film in Short, Medium and Feature Film and the Divino Tserewahú Competitive Exhibition dedicated to Indigenous cinema, which will also award the best Short, Medium and and Feature Film for this type of production. In addition to these awards, in honor of the dear friend and great inspiration Patrícia Monte-Mor, from this edition onwards we will have a special award that bears her name, aimed at productions that deal with popular culture and its manifestations (more details in the edits).
Films not selected for the Competitive Screenings may be screened in Parallel Screenings of the festival, divided by themes and with their own curators. The Festival will also include conferences, conversation circles, workshops and tributes.
